“Ironing out” the age old issue of discolouration in drinking water pipes.

Intelligent Gels use an innovative new product that can define a new era in drinking water pipeline cleaning across the globe.

The gel can capture, retain and remove the particulate matter leaving the pipeline clean along with eliminating non-compliance after effects caused by aggressive cleaning.

Gels can be used in cast iron drinking water pipelines to remove the source of discolourisation, i.e. the Iron. Flushing with clean water is inefficient and we have proven that with the use of a gel, the pipeline will remain cleaner for longer, plus significantly reducing the volumes of water required in the cleaning process.

The issue and problem with rising mains is that they can lose the ability to self-cleanse. In a neglected network there is a built up of sediments thus reducing the pumping capability and the ability to maintain self-cleansing status. This also increases the energy costs and increases the probability of a pollution event.

As you can imagine, there are thousands of pumping stations across the UK and many of them are not deemed to be self-cleansing. It is a known issue within the sector and one that requires attention.

Cleaning a rising main is not easy to do with existing techniques and the use of gel can improve the network by removing debris thus increasing the pipeline bore, reducing the load on the pumps and increasing efficiency plus reducing potential pollution events.

The problem of tree root intrusion is endemic across all wastewater service networks across England and Wales, affecting both homes and businesses.

Started in 2015 to tackle pollution events that are due to tree roots and the blockages they cause.
